Our physical yoga practice helps us to unwind the body and the busy mind, so that at the end of a session on the mat, it is much easier to move into a meditative space.
I teach meditation in a way that helps people to find and anchor their own technique that helps them to gain control of the 'monkey mind'. When we find a technique that works, it feels like we have struck gold! And then, every time we sit on our meditation cushion, the brain knows what's coming and more quickly lets go of the crazy whirlwind of thoughts that keep our heads so busy.
When we then find a tiny gap between two thoughts, it is like a chink of light in the darkness. The mind relaxes, just a little. This is the start of meditation.
