Snow Mountains

January 2026

Journaling or Meditation Ideas.

Embrace the pause of the quiet season and let yourself just be. Resting, walking, reading, and especially being out in the elements and breathing in the quiet of the earth in deep Winter.

“I hope that this is the year you realise everything – every last thing in your life – will happen with much more ease if it is alignment with your soul’s true intent. I hope this is the year you begin to unearth those truths from inside you. I hope this is the year you find the boldest, bravest kind of courage. I hope this is the year you walk fiercely into the life that was always meant to be yours.

Within you lives a great vision for your life, quieted over time by the world.

It is once again time to listen.

It is once again time to live.”

Brianna Wiest from the book ‘The Pivot Year’

New Year – There’s snow on the hills of Eryri today and a clean, pale blue winter sky – but Oh, baby it’s cold outside!! So, get cosy with a cuppa, settle into the sofa, and take a few long slow breaths.

Can you use this time to get outdoors, breathe the cold, crisp air deeply and feel the blessing of another new year of possibility? What a gift!

Can you be quiet enough to pause and think about the year that has been?

Can you give yourself permission to bring forward the good stuff and let go of the pain and suffering you have put yourself through?

It is a good TIME, while the earth is quiet... time to re-assess your priorities and how you wish your life to unfold in the coming weeks, months and years.

And I don’t mean making a To-Do List and setting goals – How do you want to feel? Who do you want to spend time with? Where do you want to explore? What kind of world do you want to see? How can you set yourself up each and every day for the joy of the journey?

Life moves at speed and sometimes we get pulled along the rollercoaster. Before we know it, the year has gone and we realise we didn’t take the time to choose, to make mindful decisions about the direction we are headed, where we spent our energy and put our focus.

So, stop now, for a moment and close your eyes, breathe into your belly and notice – your feeling body knows your deepest truths - your wise and gentle heart certainly does.

Where have I been losing energy and where have I been gathering? Where have I been giving love and not getting it back in equal exchange?

And where have I failed to be open, tolerant or kind – to myself and others?

What is spent, stagnant and out of date in my thinking and being?

What feels alive, fresh and exciting?

JOURNALING PROMPTS

January always feels dark, cold and therefore, encouraging of inward-looking practices. If you would like to try Journaling, take a notebook with you on a wintery walk, sit under a tree with a flask of hot chocolate and get scribbling. It’s important not to engage the brain too much… think of it as a download, allowing your thoughts and feelings to flow from your heart, down your arm and out of the pen… What are the themes of your year? What have you learned? And how have you grown?

If you don’t know where to start, write these prompts down to get you started….

What achievement are you are most proud of from 2025 and why?

What was your biggest challenge, and what did you learn from it?

What is one thing you will be leaving behind in 2025 and why?

Name something ‘negative’ that happened that taught you something valuable and what that means going forward?

What moments from 2025 made you feel truly alive / joyful / grateful?

How can all of this help you to envision living to your fullest potential and deepest truth in 2026?

Describe where and how you see yourself 6 months from now / one year from now / five years from now…

When I am writing like this, I try to write fast and without too much thinking… if I lose my way, I stop and close my eyes and take a few deep breaths, pick up the thread and take off again… try it, you might like it!

Embrace the pause of the quiet season and let yourself just be. Resting, walking, reading, and especially being out in the elements and breathing in the quiet of the earth in deep Winter.

Try keeping a journal with you for the next few weeks and keep evolving and growing your answers - you have opened a portal to your unconscious - let the journey begin!
